Call for Presentations and posters
The 9th NKOS Workshop at the European Digital Library Conference will take place, as part of ECDL 2010 in Glasgow (http://www.ecdl2010.org/).
Proposals are invited for the following:
- presentations (typically 20 minutes plus discussion time, potentially longer if warranted) on work related to the themes of the workshop (see below).
- posters on work related to the themes of the workshop (see below).
Please email proposals (maximum 1000 words for presentations and 500 words for posters, including aims, methods, main findings, relevance to themes of workshop) by June 21st to Douglas Tudhope (douglas.tudhope@southwales.ac.uk). Proposals will be peer-reviewed by the program committee for and notification of acceptance will be given by July 12th.
After the workshop, copies of presentations will be made available on the workshop website. Presentations from the workshop may be encouraged to be submitted as extended papers for peer reviewed journal publication.
Key themes for the 9th NKOS workshop will be
- Mapping relationships and their impact on retrieval performance
Advance the state of knowledge on general and KOS specific mapping relationships. An aim of the workshop is to bring together experiences and approaches from different communities, eg LIS (thesauri, classification etc.) and semantic web ontology alignment methods. - KOS registries and metadata
The aim is to inform and help communication and coordination between various KOS registry and metadata application profile initiatives from different communities and projects. - Linked Data - its connection with different types of KOS applications and implementations
- SKOS implementations and SKOSifying vocabularies and the SKOS-based services that might eg take advantage of linked data
- Social tagging and informal knowledge structures augmenting established KOS
- User-centred issues relating to the above, or (e.g.) user behaviour studies, user-centred design methodologies, user-centred evaluation relating to KOS
